  • Plastic canvas sheet (10 x 12 inches)
  • Yarn in black, orange, white, and purple
  • 18-count plastic canvas needle
  • Scissors
  • Music box mechanism
  • Craft glue

Instructions

    Base and Sides

  1. Cut a piece of plastic canvas measuring 8 x 12 inches.
  2. Using black yarn, single crochet around the entire perimeter of the canvas, leaving a small opening for the handle.
  3. Cut two pieces of black yarn, each 12 inches long, for the handle. Thread one end of each yarn through the opening left for the handle, bringing the ends together and tying them securely.
  4. Pumpkin

  5. Cut a piece of orange yarn, 8 inches long. Thread the yarn onto the needle and insert it into the first hole in the top left corner of the plastic canvas.
  6. Bring the yarn up through the hole to the right and insert it back into the first hole to create a stitch.
  7. Continue making stitches around the perimeter of the pumpkin shape, following the pattern on the chart provided.
  8. When you reach the bottom of the pumpkin shape, turn your work and continue making stitches over the stitches previously made.
  9. To create the pumpkin stem, cut a piece of green yarn, 2 inches long. Insert the yarn into the first hole at the top of the pumpkin shape and bring it up through the hole to the left. Repeat these steps to create another stitch.
  10. Bat

  11. Cut a piece of black yarn, 6 inches long. Thread the yarn onto the needle and insert it into the first hole in the top left corner of the plastic canvas, next to the pumpkin.
  12. Bring the yarn up through the hole to the right and insert it back into the first hole to create a stitch.
  13. Continue making stitches around the perimeter of the bat shape, following the pattern on the chart provided.
  14. Ghost

  15. Cut a piece of white yarn, 6 inches long. Thread the yarn onto the needle and insert it into the first hole below the bat shape.
  16. Bring the yarn up through the hole to the right and insert it back into the first hole to create a stitch.
  17. Continue making stitches around the perimeter of the ghost shape, following the pattern on the chart provided.
  18. Spider

  19. Cut a piece of purple yarn, 4 inches long. Thread the yarn onto the needle and insert it into the first hole below the ghost shape.
  20. Bring the yarn up through the hole to the right and insert it back into the first hole to create a stitch.
  21. Continue making stitches around the perimeter of the spider shape, following the pattern on the chart provided.
  22. Finishing

  23. Once you have completed all the shapes, trim any excess yarn.
  24. Insert the music box mechanism into the opening left in the base of the music box.
  25. Apply a thin layer of craft glue around the edges of the music box mechanism and press the base into place.
  26. Allow the glue to dry completely before playing the music box.
